I have always been a back of the room kind of guy, but over the past few years, I have really learned that is not always the best place to be. I made a concerted effort to change a few years ago. I now go right to the front of the class so to speak and engage. It has made a huge difference. We have needed help in several areas of the country; Ohio, Tennessee, Arizona, Southern California, Washington, Idaho and even right here in my own backyard, Elk Grove. Our networks have proved to be helpful and powerful.
It is not that we want to be the center a huge universe, just a part of an engaging, helpful universe.
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, a note investing network I belong to and ActiveRain have all been very helpful. I feel like there is someone I can call and plug into just about anywhere across the country.
If you would like to join any of my networks, I would love to follow back.
- Facebook-The friends and family plan.
- Facebook Business Page-Insightful and conscientious Real estate Ray.
- eXp Workplace-eXp Realty agents
- Twitter-Wild West and somewhat political Ray. Friend's posts get liked, commented on and re-tweeted to my 4,700 followers often.
- LinkedIn-Business and a tad bit boring Ray.
- Instagram-Picturesque Ray.
- Parler-Kind of confused and mostly absent Ray. I am not sure I would even follow me here. Maybe this is the Wild West.
- Youtube-Not quite ready for prime time Ray.
Am I forgetting anything? Feel free to post your links to your favorite networks below. The more the merrier!
Bonus question-Who was the first business person that you followed on Social Media that made you think, this is all worth it? For me, it was Ryan Lundquist, appraiser, on Twitter. The guy puts out so much useful information and is genuinely good-natured.

Hi Raymond Henson, SRES, GRI . Thanks for the introduction to Idaho as the self-proclaimed center of the universe. It is important for to have a strong and good network of good people to share and learn from. Thanks for sharing all the networks you are on.
Hi Janice Zaltman, I can now say I have been to the center of the universe and back. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
Thanks, Ray.
You are so right about having a good network. And there are lots of ways to create that strong network. I'll have to check to see where else we need to be connected! I value my CRS network tremendously, among the others I have cultivated.
Have a great weekend!
Jeff
Hi Jeff, I feel fortunate to have you in my network now. Thank you for taking the time to drop by and I hope you enjoy your weekend too.
Hi Raymond-I think it's difficult for many people to put themselves out there when it comes to networking, but it does pay off. It's not about the money but it's like having a large support network.
Raymond I have a good network and ironically it is from Active Rain , Berkshire Hathaway and not Facebook or Instagram... neither has put any money in my pocket all it does is gives me exposure ....just sayin, Endre
I have connected with you on your various social media platforms. I hope this effort here produces referrals for you. Please let me know. Thanks
I am on most of those networks as well and of course, I follow you on the ones I am on but to be honest, it is all becoming too much for me and I haven't been spending much time on any of them.
Hi Raymond Henson, SRES, GRI - I sent a request to connect on Link In. That one is my most used.
Good morning Endre Barath, Jr., almost all my business comes from my sphere and my main way of connecting is through FB. Other networks have help me, for example, when our family needed to sell in TN. An note investor referred me to an appraiser, the appraiser referred me to an agent and all worked out well. ActiveRain I was on early, but never understood the power until recently. I get it now. I am happy to be here and really do feel like I could call and get help any time I need it. I am also excited about the chance to reciprocate as possible.
Kathy Streib, one of the reasons I entered the real estate business in the first place was because I was shy and wanted to break out. One of my first transactions was a family deal. They brought me into a large office, put me at the head of the table with everyone from the multi-generational family and we proceeded to talk for over an hour. It was a what have I got myself into moment and also the moment that I learned, I can do this. ActiveRain was even difficult, but all the experiences have made me more open and, I think, that is a good thing.
Hi Dale Taylor, I believe I have followed you back everywhere. I have also followed you on the most important of all, ActiveRain. Please let me know if I missed anywhere and THANK YOU!
Good Morning Brian England. Yes, it is a balancing act for sure. We do have to focus on what is important, doing business and you do that well.
Thank you very much Grant Schneider. I have accepted your invitation to connect and I appreciate it. I really enjoy hearing what you have to say here on ActiveRain and feel fortunate to have connected.
Great information. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day!
Ray, I am fairly active on social media, but not on Instagram or Twitter.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by, Kristin Johnston - REALTOR®. Enjoy your day as well!
Good morning Joan, I really do not do much on Instagram either. Twitter is a weakness of mine and probably one I need to cut back on. I am happy to have met you on ActiveRain!
I generate a lot of business because of many of the networks you have mentioned...and I also have lost some. Opinions can be a fickle thing when on social media...and not such a big deal face to face. So I still generate most of my business face to face!! Thanks for sharing Raymond Henson, SRES, GRI
Thank you for following me Raymond Henson, SRES, GRI . I tend to stay away from social media, kind of an introvert and simply don't have the time. Good for you though!
Hi Kathy Streib! Thank you for featuring my post in your, "What I Learned This Week," post. I really appreciate it!
Mike McCann - Nebraska Farm Land Broker, I have gained some and, undoubtedly, lost some, but it is the way I stay connected. My network is probably more valuable for when I need something. I do like face to face! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
Hi Eva B. Liland Century 21 Doug Anderson, I really am kind of an introvert as well. It has taken me a lot of time to be able to do as much as I do. Hope you are doing well and thank you for stopping by.
I used to spend hours on various platforms and blogging here on AR, etc. But a couple of years ago I started to take that "real estate is local" very seriously, and have made quite a dent in getting recognized here in my area. And my businesses has never done better. Having said that, I am now ready to do more social media this coming year to expand my reach. We will see, there are only so many hours in a day.
That is for sure, Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor®, there are only so many hours in the day. Well done on getting recognized in your area. Maybe you could write a blog about it. Thank you for your input!
Thank you for offering your help to everyone. It is good to have someone we know we can call for help. We can't get through this life alone.
Have a Happy Day Raymond Henson, SRES, GRI.
It is good to be surrounded by people who are really helpful, CANDACE (Candy) STEVENS. And happy to be following you now on AciveRain.
